Audience

The audience that may be drawn to our sequence are those who enjoy being thrilled throughout films and who find entertainment in the anxiety build up in thrillers.

We are focusing on targeting 15-25 year olds. Just becuase we are focusing on attracted them it doesnt mean that they will want to view the film so therefore we had to base it on a theme that we felt would attract that audience. We felt if we had created a religious thriller we wouldn't attract the audience that we wanted as we didn't feel they would be that interested in it. So we decided to create a physchological thriller as that is the audience we wanted to attract.

In certificate 15's, the language that is used has to be suitable and only certain words can be used if they are justified. There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context but sexual activity may be portrayed but without strong detail. Also the scenes can be violent but the pain should not be continuously recognized and drug taken may be shown but it should defiantly not promote drug misuse. Weapons should not be glamorized and scenes such as suicide, hanging and self-harming should not consist of imitable detail. So we thought that this would be most suitable for the scene in which we are creating.

A PG certificate would be very inappropriate for this film as violence can not be used unless they are justified and the film can only consists of mild language and our film will have violence and strong language in it.

We thought an 18 would be too highly restrictive for this film as it does not have content which is too explicit.

We thought our opening sequence would be a bit inappropiate for a 12 certificate as it shows scenes which could be inappropiate for 12 year olds, like our last scene in which someone is dead.

Maybe add a bit more detail to this post - perhaps upload each certificate logo from the bbfc site and list the official guidelines - then comment on the pros/cons of each certificate for the thriller genre.

Also, try to show an understanding that while the bbfc certificate controls the content of the filmand therfore who can legally see it, this is different to the audience who will actually be attracted to the film.

i.e. - a 15 certificate film won't necessarily attract a 15 year old audience if the theme isn't one that would appeal. A 15 certificate action thriller will have a very different audience to a 15 certificate political thriller.
